Successful Workshop Automation with STRABAG BMTI
We are excited to share a special project success with STRABAG BMTI GmbH SE on our blog. Together, we have significantly advanced the automation of more than 150 workshops with over 1,800 employees – a major step towards digitalization and increased efficiency.
Project Objective
The primary goal was the complete digital mapping of work orders in STRABAG’s workshops, along with the seamless integration of operational material procurement. This was intended not only to reduce effort but also to increase transparency and traceability in processes.

Process Integration
A Microsoft Dynamics-based application was implemented as the technological foundation to organize the planning and execution of workshop orders – from repair scheduling to the allocation of required resources.

CATO in Use
CATO – the eProcurement solution “ComfortMarket” from ePhilos – has been in use at STRABAG for over 18 years. As part of this project, CATO was connected to Microsoft Dynamics via an interface. The goal: end-to-end system communication without media discontinuities.

Automated Material Search
Once a work order is transmitted to CATO, the system automatically generates a “wish list” for the required materials. Through intelligent search mechanisms, the system identifies suitable and orderable materials – from original parts to cost-effective alternatives.

Data Feedback
The order is placed via CATO and reported back directly to Microsoft Dynamics. This creates a closed loop with fully automated communication between the systems – enabling maximum transparency and efficiency.
