Analyzing price and retailer information on the internet

Collecting as well as processing into well-structured data of the sales prices of nearly 500 products and product variations from previously unknown online retailers for a defined timespan.

Project Partner

Coca-Cola European Partners Deutschland GmbH
Mr. Hugh Landsman
Germany

Headquartered in Berlin, CCEP DE is responsible for bottling and distribution of Coca-Cola branded products throughout Germany and is Germany’s largest beverage company, with a sales volume of nearly 3.8 billion liters (2018). The company employs around 8,000 people and has a product portfolio of more than 80 non-alcoholic beverages, which are bottled in 16 production plants.

Project Contents

CCEP wanted to analyze which online stores and marketplaces are offering a certain number of defined products at which price points.

The data gained in this way had to be suitable for cross-selling and upselling activities in marketing and sales, with the goal to achieve deeper market penetration.

Relevant online information was collected (global scraping) and evaluated via product specific web crawler and bots and then integrated into an existing learning infrastructure, for example:

  • Name and contact information of the retailer
  • Product title and description
  • Price, delivery fee, delivery capacity
  • Size, package size, product availability

After detailed analysis and optimization of the collected data the according software for visualization was built. This was done in close coordination with the project partner.

Conclusion

The project duration and benefits were in excellent proportion to the effort expended, particularly due to the high degree of automation. The insights gained exceeded expectations and helped the sales department to generate new leads, as well as the marketing department in addressing specific retailers.

Smarter Shopping with Progressive Web App Technology

Google Suddenly Starts the Turbo: Play Store Will Likely Changes to PWA Store

This headline from April 18, 2020 worries conventional Web App providers. In terms of our customers ePhilos already implemented PWA technology!

With ComfortMarket 5.0, all requirements of a Progressive Web App, a symbiosis of a responsive website and an app, have already been implemented from the beginning. This way, companies invest in an up-to-date procurement solution that automates large areas of purchasing. In Europe alone, more than 700,000 users work with CM Procure, the core of the procurement solution, to handle their daily purchases quickly and accurately.

It makes no difference whether the required goods and services are purchased from a platform such as Amazon Business or from the specialized company next door. Controlled by permissions, employees can register orders at any time or place, as well as purchase them directly from their suppliers. They gain control and transparency in indirect purchasing.

Thanks to the Progressive Web App technology, orders for articles and services as well as their approvals can be completed on the go in a time-saving manner. Bookings of goods and invoice approvals complete the software package for highly automated process chain in your purchasing department.

ComfortMarket 5.0 leads directly to cost savings, improvements of business processes and increased efficiency.

Sprints and Bots – Artificial Intelligence in Practice

Implement Artificial intelligence in your company by way of concrete projects

Since 2015, we have been cooperating with the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI). Completely new methods of product search and optimization of product master data, based on artificial intelligence techniques, cause reduced process time, improved results and provide high-quality data information.

Example: to improve the findability of their products, suppliers tend to tag their products with extraneous keywords. This “inflation” of keywords makes searching more difficult, because the relevant product master data takes a back seat. AI staging is smart enough to recognize and displaythe relevant product master data.

Customers who want to improve digitization can book ePhilos as a giver of ideas, sparring partner and solution provider.
