The operative aspect consists of a completely pragmatic assessment of the suppliers - this includes their prices, terms of payment, adherence to delivery quantity and dates as well as their innovative ability. The basis for the assessment also includes standardised notice of defect forms, incoming goods control and product assessments by the user.
In the process, the classification can be undertaken in rough categories such as "exclusive supplier", "favoured supplier", "would-be supplier" and "discontinued supplier".
